Foreign travel:

A big disadvantage of conventional bike bags for cyclists travelling independently is that whilst they’re great at carrying bikes it is virtually impossible for bikes to carry them. With the Betty Bag you can fly or take a coach with your bike and when you arrive at your destination terminal unpack the bike, fold up the Betty Bag and ride off with the it stowed in a rucksack or strapped to a rack. Since the Betty Bag is unpadded it makes sense to add a little protection to any particularly delicate or vulnerable parts of the bike such as the fork tubes on a suspended bike. However in the designer’s experience, the better protected an item looks the more likely it is that baggage handlers will chuck it around with no particular care being taken. Hence a heavily padded bike bag is no guarantee that your bike will survive unscathed, and such a bag will take up far more of your baggage allowance or be subject to a surcharge.

Filth avoidance:

With more and more high value bikes sold and theft being a very real fear it’s not surprising that many owners prefer to transport their bikes inside their cars rather than on a rack. The Betty Bag can ensure that road dirt, trail dirt, chain oil etc all stay well away from the car’s interior.

For the above mentioned reason it is also common for bike owners to want to keep their bikes within the confines of their house and it’s no surprise that this can often be the cause of domestic conflict. The Betty Bag has been designed so that most bikes can be accommodated without the front wheel being removed (although the handlebars will protrude from the top of the bag). Thus the bike can be easily stored indoors with all the dirty parts covered and your relationship can carry on in perfect harmony.
